The economic impact of higher education is currently an important matter for the Parliament and for the Scottish Government. This seminar was intended to encourage knowledge exchange and discussion with Scottish Parliament, government and public agency researchers and policymakers regarding the economic and social role of higher education.
The event was chaired by Emeritus Professor Iain McNicoll (University of Strathclyde) and the speakers included:
- Professor Anton Muscatelli, Convenor of Universities Scotland
- Professor Peter McGregor , Director of the Fraser of Allander Institute for Research on the Scottish Economy and joint Coordinator of the Impact of Higher Education Institutions Research Initiative
- Dr Michael Kitson of the Cambridge-MIT Institute Programme on Regional Innovation
- Ms Ursula Kelly, University of Strathclyde and Joint Coordinator of the Impact of Higher Education Institutions Research Initiative
This event formed part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science. The event was organised by the University of Strathclyde and the Impact of Higher Education Institutions on Regional Economies initiative.
