The Impact of Higher Education Institutions on Regional Economies initiative

This workshop provided the opportunity for informal discussion between initiative researchers and Scottish Government policy analysts focussed on the work undertaken within the Impact of Higher Education Institutions on Regional Economies Research Initiative. In particular the workshop sought to stimulate discussion of issues arising from the consultation document Building a Smarter Future, regarding the extant and developing evidence base that may help inform the development of a sustainable future for higher education in Scotland.
Whilst drawing on the work of the whole Initiative, this workshop focused primarily on output from the ‘Overall Impact’ project which focussed on economic modelling of system-wide effects of higher education institutions. This project has developed a suite of economic models which will enable future analysis of a range of policy scenarios.
